Welcome to Acomb Primary School. I am incredibly proud to have been headteacher here since 2010 and to have overseen the growth of the school from 220 to 320 children in that time. Despite this growth, we pride ourselves on being a friendly school with a steadfast focus on the children in our care. Our motto is ‘Putting Children First – Always Aiming High’, something which we hold very dear and that guides all of our decisions. We have an ambitious curriculum, based on giving children real opportunities and experiences – our Acorns programme ensures that children have access to these while they are part of our school – for example all children at Acomb will visit York Minster and the local museums, perform on a stage, go on residentials and raise money for charity to name just a few.
Relationships are key to the success of our school and communication is at the heart of this. My colleagues and I will always be available to discuss your child’s education and personal development and to help in any way we can. I send out a weekly newsletter each Friday with information about upcoming events and life in school. Our Twitter feed is also a useful source of information about the school.
Please take a look round our website to find out more about us and get in touch if you have any questions.
